Clair Alerts is the automated SMS notification program of Clair, a property monitoring and automation service operated by Kyle Richard, sole proprietor (Birmingham, Alabama). The service runs on its own server, monitors connected sensors and devices at a subscribed property — entry doors, garage doors, smoke and CO alarms, water-leak and temperature sensors, cameras, appliances — and runs scheduled jobs against them.
Every message in this program is application-generated. When a monitored condition matches a rule, or a scheduled job fires, the software composes the alert from a stored template and the sensor reading and sends it to the numbers enrolled on that account. No person writes, types, or sends these messages, and this campaign carries no conversational or peer-to-peer traffic. Examples: "the garage door has been open since 9:05 PM", "the smoke alarm in the hallway is sounding", "trash pickup is tomorrow morning."
Only enrolled end users of the service, who asked for alerts on their account. The service is in early operation, so the enrolled base is currently small. There is no public sign-up form. Phone numbers are never collected from this website, purchased, rented, or imported from any list, and they are never shared.
An end user asks Clair to send automated alerts to their mobile number. That consent is given directly to Clair, for this alerting program only — never bundled into another agreement. The operator records the consent (who authorized it, for which number, and on what date) and enters the number on the account's settings screen. Nothing is enabled by default; a number is only ever added after that person's explicit request. The number then immediately receives a one-time confirmation message:
"Clair Alerts: you asked to receive automated property alerts at this number. Msg frequency varies, up to ~5/day. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
Consent is not a condition of any purchase or service. Inbound texts to this number are limited to STOP, HELP and START keyword handling and occasional support replies from the operator.
